Sun is shining and we're ready to work.

Hard work pays off. This is the area cleared for the outdoor sink.

first workday of 2009

Here are some photos from the first workday at the school garden, February 21, 2009.

Laura, the head gardener, directed us to the many projects in the garden that are in process. There were a few groups there, including some students and their parents which made for quick work. Reuben helped clear a space in front of the greenhouse for an outside sink. Simone and I cleared up a bed destined to become the scent garden. We trimmed the tangled lavender plants and pulled weeds and unwanted previous plantings. There was a good turnout from the Sunrise Rotary group and former principle Vicky pulled weeds with the rest of us.

We helped our garden, there were refreshments in the middle of the day and the weather held out; what more could you ask for? I hope you enjoy these photos.

Slowly and sincerely, Dominique Cortara

p.s. I'd like to continue this blog with others of us in the garden group contributing and keeping our membership informed of the school garden project. What do you think? Please leave a comment with your thoughts.
